(September 17, 2007) The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) is pleased to announce it is accepting nominations for the Distinguished University Innovator Award, established in 2006 to recognize individuals at the University of Michigan who have distinguished themselves through innovation as defined in the selection criteria below. Nomination deadline is November 14, 2007. The awardee will be announced in January, 2008 and the recipient will be invited to deliver a lecture in the spring of 2008.

A member of the tenure/tenure track or research faculty, or a team of up to three (3) individuals led by such faculty member.
Honorarium of $5000 to the individual winner or shared by the team winners. The recipient is invited to deliver a lecture on a topic related to his or her accomplishments in innovation. The award is sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Research.

Nominations are due by November 14, 2007. A PDF or Word file of the nomination should be sent to Jane Ritter at ritterj@umich.edu. Alternatively, Eight copies (three-hole punched) of each nomination packet should be submitted to the Office of the Vice President for Research, 4080 Fleming, 1340.
By consensus of the membership of the OVPR Innovation Awards Committee appointed by the Vice President for Research, and with concurrence of the VPR.
The recipient(s), if any, will be announced by January 15, 2008. The award winner’s lecture and reception will he held on a date in the spring of 2008 to be announced.
This award is open to tenure/tenure track or research faculty in all UM campuses, schools, colleges and units.
