PURPOSE: Promote novel research in the area of energy. Funds are available for new concepts and ideas that are not addressed by other support programs within or outside the University, or as seed funds for ideas that require initial progress before application or submission for external support.
A maximum of four awards will be made in FY2008 through the Michigan Memorial Phoenix Energy Institute. Amounts awarded will be up to $45,000 for a one-year project period. Matching funds from the unit, department, school/college or outside sources is viewed as an important sign of commitment to and support of the application. To encourage activity in the energy area, the required match is 33% of the total cost of the project.
ELIGIBILITY: Continuing instructional faculty, research scientists, librarians, curators, or archivists with a minimum 50% effort appointment may apply
