Internal Deadline: March 14, 2008

**(Nomination must be submitted electronically in a single file, pdf format.)**

Foundation Deadline: May 8, 2008

The Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation New Faculty Awards Program seeks to support the scholarly activity of new faculty. The program is open to academic institutions that grant a doctoral degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering. Faculty members who start their first tenure-track appointment in one of these departments in 2008 are eligible for nomination in 2008. Nominees should have the potential to produce an independent body of scientific scholarship of outstanding quality and to make significant contributions to overall education in the chemical sciences. This prestigious award provides an unrestricted research grant of $50,000 and is based on institutional nomination.

The University of Michigan is allowed to nominate only one faculty member for this award. Departments that wish to nominate a candidate for this award should prepare a nomination packet containing the following (these are a portion of the materials that will be required for nominee submission to the Dreyfus Foundation):

Submit all internal applications electronically to: OVPRlimitedsubmissions@umich.edu.

An interdisciplinary panel will evaluated the applications received and the University's nominee will be notified promptly of his/her selection and must then prepare and submit their completed applications to the Dreyfus Foundation by May 8, 2008. Additional information and guidelines for preparation are posted on the Foundation website: http://www.dreyfus.org/nf.shtml

Please contact Jane Ritter ( 763-1290 or ritterj@umich.edu) with any questions regarding this award program.
