Howard Hughes Medical Institute: Undergraduate Science Education program (USEP)

NOMINATION MUST BE SUBMITTED ELECTRONICALLY IN A SINGLE FILE, PDF FORMAT.
The purpose of the HHMI-USEP award is to support initiatives that strengthen education in the biological sciences and other scientific disciplines as they relate to biology, in one or more of 4 principal areas:
- Student research and broadening access to science
- New, current, and future faculty development
- Curriculum, equipment, and laboratory development
- Precollege and other outreach
UM has been invited to submit one proposal for the 2006 competition.Ê The Office of the Vice President for Research will coordinate the selection process.
Four-year awards ranging from $1.2 to $2.2 million will be announced in the spring of 2006.Ê

For consideration as the institutional nominee, submit the following electronically in a single file, PDF format by August 19, 2005:
- 3-5 page proposal outline, responsive to the RFP, addressing the program objectives; program assessment and evaluation method to be used; and outcome dissemination strategy
- NIH formatted biosketch(s)
- Nominating letter from dean(s) or department chair(s)
