The UM Medical School has been invited to submit more than one proposal for this grant competition, provided that, each is from a different division/department. Grants of $65,000 per year for 3 years are provided to the sponsoring medical school on behalf of the Scholar. The purpose of this initiative is to provide support for research bridging the basic science of epidemiology with clinical medicine, in order to improve both the quality of clinical research and quality of patient care. Deadline for submission of proposals to Pfizer is January 9, 2004. For consideration as institutional nominees, submit the following by December 12, 2003: A 1-2 page research summary, CV, and a nominating letter from the department chair or division chief.

The purpose of this initiative is to provide support to promising physician-scientists whose research will explore biological mechanisms of diseases in women in cardiovascular disease, mental health, and reproductive physiology.
Grants of $65,000 per year for 3 years are provided to the sponsoring medical school on behalf of the Scholar. Applicants must have an M.D. or D.O. with 12 years or fewer of professional experience in his/her specialty area as of July 2003 and have a full-time faculty appointment below the level of associate professor. Pfizer will accept up to 3 applications from each institution (1 from each designated area), but will confer only 1 award per institution in a given competition. Deadline for submission of proposals to Pfizer is December 10, 2002.
