Reviewers Sought for the New Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Graduate Fellowship and Undergraduate Scholarship Program
TYPE OF AWARD:
New graduate fellowship program for beginning and first year graduate students.
New scholarship program for rising juniors and seniors.START DATE:
Both programs will begin supporting students in Fall 2003.WE NEED HELP:
Several thousand applications are expected and will be reviewed in June, 2003. We urgently need reviewers with the following characteristics:
- PhD scientist or Senior Scientist (non-PhD)
- Academic, industry and/or government affiliation
- Knowledge of scientific research and technology development activities related to homeland security issues*
- Research experience as evidenced by serving as a principal investigator on research projects
- Fields of expertise: physical, biological, social and behavioral sciences, engineering, mathematics, or computer science
- Available for travel to Washington, DC for review meeting to held June 17-20 (arrival 6-17-03 evening depart 6-20-03 after 3pm)

Program Status: Initiated in mid-April, 2003. Over 4000 letters of intent received. Application deadline is May 19, 2003. For additional program information visit: http://www.orau.gov/dhsed/.
*Note: A listing of 'scientific research and technology development activities related to homeland security' might omit areas of emerging importance. Please use your professional judgment in determining whether an area of research or technology development is relevant.
