Export Controls and Research at Michigan
Presenters: Marvin Parnes and Elaine Brock
U.S. export control laws and regulations have become a difficult topic for researchers and research administrators to confront. In the wake of 9/11, the trend is toward even more regulation in this area. This presentation will introduce you to essential information concerning the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). We will also discuss and the profound impact it may have on research, openness of research and the inclusion of foreign nationals on sponsored projects at UM and other universities.
Financial Operations Update
Bryan Van Sickle and Diane Winter will be on hand to review information and events out of Sponsored Programs, including A21 issues emerging on salary charges since the HR classification system went into effect. Diane will also provide information aimed to help you comply with Effort Reporting requirements.
DRDA Announcements
Jim Randolph will make a few announcements out of DRDA.
eResearch and the Data Warehouse
Information from the eResearch system will be available through the data warehouse beginning this November. This brief presentation will show you how you can access and use the data for your reporting needs.
We hope you will join us! To aid in planning, please go to the register (UM research training page.)
