Standardization of Research Faculty Offer Letters

In a recent review of offer letters to research faculty, we have found a significant range in the material/information they contain. Concurrent with this review, we have become aware that the information we typically include in these letters is often misinterpreted and/or is inconsistent with the expectations of external agencies with whom we interact and must, from time to time, share these materials.
In response to these issues OVPR has decided to require the standardization of all offer letters to research faculty. Recognizing that there is additional employment related information that we wish to convey to a new appointee, we are proposing the creation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the employing unit and the appointee to address these issues, which would be a separate document from the offer letter.
