As associate vice president for research-natural sciences and engineering, Orr supports the research efforts of faculty in disciplines of natural sciences and engineering. He also serves as a liaison to the schools and departments in these disciplines, and will collaborate with other members of the OVPR Leadership Team in fostering interdisciplinary initiatives.
In addition, Orr provides support for several OVPR units and programs, including Mcity, the Michigan Institute for Data Science, the Michigan Institute for Computational Discovery and Engineering, and Consulting for Statistics, Computing and Analytics Research. His research focuses on the study of surfaces and structures using ultra-microscopies.
